Sunlight-Importance of sunlight

“Then God said ‘Let there be light;’ and there was light’, And God saw the light, that it was good”…… (Genesis 1 : 3 ,4 KJV) The sun is a hot cosmic radiation powerhouse where we get sunlight that provides healing to our bodies. Our bodies need sunlight to make Vitamin D. Studies show early morning or late-afternoon sun exposure is the safest. Light is very important to all life, so important that God provided the sun as a constant source to supply energy. Energy is necessary to sustain all life on earth. The energy used by, growing plants , and solar power are supplied by sunlight. Even though God said that light was good, many people are afraid of sun exposure. Plants need sunlight to grow and human beings also need sunlight for optimal health. (The darker your skin colour, the more sunshine you need to make Vitamin D. People with dark skin pigmentation may need 20-30 times as much exposure to sunlight as fair-skinned people to generate the same amount of vitamin D. Because of this, many black persons are vitamin D deficient. Research shows that more than 90 per cent of African-Americans are vitamin D deficient. Many Jamaicans also have this deficiency. Also, the farther you live from the equator, the more sunshine you need in order to generate vitamin D.) http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20110208/news/news4.html Studies show more than 90% of Americans are vitamin D deficient.  The N.I.H.- National Institutes of Health reported that 10-15 mins of sunlight allow adequate time for vitamin D synthesis to occur. Sunlight is good. Exposure to sunlight is the only reliable way to generate vitamin D in your own body. Studies show that a person would have to drink 10 large glasses of vitamin D-fortified milk each day just to get minimum levels of vitamin D into their diet. Vitamin D is produced by our skin in response to exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVB) from the natural sunlight, this converts cholesterol in the skin into vitamin D. It is nearly impossible to get enough vitamin D from our diet. Although sunlight is good we have to use it in moderation, Recommended 5-30 mins. a day , 3 times a week direct sunlight adequate exposure. However its best to check with your Dr. especially people on medication.
