Faith Defined “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12:3. ” Faith that enables us to receive God’s gifts is itself a gift, of which some measure is imparted to every human being. It grows as exercised in appropriating the word of God. In order to strengthen faith, we must often bring it in contact with the word.” (Education, pp.253,254) As we behold Jesus through His Word, The Spirit who inspired the Word grows our faith. ( Romans10:17) Faith in reality, is trust. “Faith is trusting God–believing that He loves us and knows best what is for our good. Thus, instead of our own, it leads us to choose His way. In place of our ignorance, it accepts His wisdom; in place of our weakness, His strength; in place of our sinfulness, His righteousness. Our lives, ourselves, are already His; faith acknowledges His ownership and accepts its blessing. Truth, uprightness, purity, have been pointed out as secrets of life’s success. It is faith that puts us in possession of these principles.”Every good impulse or aspiration is the gift of God; faith receives from God the life that alone can produce true growth and efficiency.” (Education 253) Through faith the Holy Spirit leads us to grasp the magnitude of the gift of grace so freely offered on Calvary. Through faith we receive spiritual strength to resist the temptations of the evil one. Through faith we are empowered to witness. Through faith we are motivated to do whatever Jesus asks and to obey whatever He commands. Faith grasps the promises of God and believes that they are our own. At Pentecost, ” higher and still higher they [the disciples] extended the hand of faith,” and “under the Holy Spirit ‘s working even the weakest, by exercising faith in God, learned to improve their entrusted powers and to sanctified, refined, and ennobled” ( The Acts of the Apostles pp. 36, 49, 50). This experience can be ours. The Holy Spirit long to both deepen and increase our faith. Our faith grows in the context of a close relationship with Jesus. Prayer is the heartbeat of the disciples’ ministry throughout their exploits of faith in the book of Acts.They gathered together for 10 days and earnestly prayed and the Holy Spirit was poured out and in 1 day 3000 new people were converted. “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42) Texts in the bible reveal how God answered prayers after earnest intercession . “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:31) ” But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4) When Herod imprisoned Peter, the entire church interceded, and the apostle was miraculously released from prison (Acts12). Prayer: The channel of blessing Through prayer we too open our hearts to everything Jesus has for us.We lay our souls bare to receive the fullness of His power ‘Prayer opens our hearts to speak with God just like we would a close friend or companion.’ The Upper Room was a place of communion with God, a place where the disciples prayed individually and united in corporate prayer. They also “met together to present their requests to the Father in the name of Jesus. They knew that they had a Representative in heaven, an Advocate at the throne of God. In solemn awe they bowed in prayer, repeating the assurance, “Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:23, 24. Higher and still higher they extended the hand of faith, with the mighty argument, “It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:34. Information from Astellas Prograf is my transplant medication along with other meds. I have been taking this since my transplant [12/13/2001] with increase and decrease in dosage depends on the lab results. My dosage was increased in May,2011 due to increase in my liver enzymes. I have to take my meds on time and do my lab test every month. What is Prograf? PROGRAF is a prescription medicine used with other medicines to help prevent organ rejection in people who have had a kidney, liver, or heart transplant. PROGRAF is not for use with medicines called cyclosporines (Gengraf®, Neoral®, and Sandimmune®) and is not for use with a medicine called sirolimus (Rapamune®) in people who have had a liver or heart transplant. It is not known if PROGRAF is safe and effective when used with sirolimus in people who have had kidney transplants. It is not known if PROGRAF is safe and effective in children who have had kidney or heart transplants. Important Safety Information What is the most important information I should know about Prograf? Prograf can cause serious side effects, including: 1. Increased risk of cancer. People who take Prograf have an increased risk of getting some kinds of cancer, including skin and lymph gland cancer (lymphoma). 2. Increased risk of infection. Prograf is a medicine that affects your immune system. Prograf can lower the ability of your immune system to fight infections. Serious infections can happen in people receiving Prograf that can cause death. Call your doctor right away if you have symptoms of an infection such as fever, sweats or chills, cough or flu-like symptoms, muscle aches, and/or warm, red, or painful areas on your skin. Do not take PROGRAF if you are allergic to tacrolimus or any of the ingredients in PROGRAF.Before you take PROGRAF, tell your doctor if you:plan to receive any live vaccines, have or have had liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
