Psalm 34: 1-3

Psalm 34: 1-3

I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. Psalm 34:1-3 NKJV

Proverbs 16

1The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. 2  All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the spirits. 3   Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established. 4  The LORD has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom. 5   Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished. 6  In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the LORD one departs from evil. 7  When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. 8  Better is a little with righteousness, Than vast revenues without justice. 9  A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps. 10   Divination is on the lips of the king; His mouth must not transgress in judgment. 11   Honest weights and scales are the LORD’s; All the weights in the bag are His work. 12 It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, For a throne is established by righteousness. 13   Righteous lips are the delight of kings, And they love him who speaks what is right. 14  As messengers of death is the king’s wrath, But a wise man will appease it. 15  In the light of the king’s face is life, And his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain. 16  How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. 17  The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul. 18  Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. 19  Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. 20  He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he. 21  The wise in heart will be called prudent, And sweetness of the lips increases learning. 22   Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it. But the correction of fools is folly. 23  The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, And adds learning to his lips. 24   Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. 25  There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. 26  The person who labors, labors for himself, For his hungry mouth drives him on. 27  An ungodly man digs...

Taming the Tongue -How to?

We all know about the cursing tongue, the gossiping tongue, the slandering tongue, and the lying tongue. But did you know that when our tongues are judgmental, rude, cynical, belittling, or meddling they can make a negative impact, and probably get us into some trouble, too. James 3:8 says, No man can tame the tongue. Although, I am not able to tame my tongue on my own. My prayer is that with the help of  the  Holy Spirit and His direction we can put in our  hearts many of God’s word and live them out in our lives daily.  ”To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:  A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak”. Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God”. May God have mercy on us and help us to use our tongue to honor and glorify Him, and to use it positively. Deborah Smith Pegues author of 30 Days to Taming Your Tongue recommends a “tongue fast.” She suggests that we begin to practice listening, to be slow to speak, and most importantly to engage our brains before we use our tongues. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Amen Psalm 19:14   Ecclesiastes 3:1,7 1 Corinthians 10:31 New King James Version (NKJV)...

Lying Tongue

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” – Exodus 20:16. ”These six things the LORD hates,  Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren”. Proverbs 6:16-19...

Taming the Tongue~ James 3

Gossip has a limitless capacity to destroy others, church, friends and relationship the list can go on and on. But can the tongue be tamed? and How can we tame this thing in our mouth that cause so much damage?  How we use the tongue is a struggle for all of us . A question to ask  is, How do I use my tongue? (for evil or good to build up or to destroy) Think about it and …. Read and see what the Good Book – The Bible say about taming the tongue or the untamed tongue. My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.  For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.  Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.  Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.  Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!   And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.   For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.   But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.   With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.   Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.   Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? James 3...
