When we pray we shouldn’t be boastful and showing off in public to be seen by others as  if we are more holy and righteous than they are.  Jesus called those people  hypocrites. Jesus left instructions as to how we ought to pray. Pray to your Father in private who  is  in  the secret place. Your Father who sees you in secret  will reward you openly so others can see your blessings from  God. We should not use vain repetitions like the heathen do. They think that they will be heard  for their many eloquent words . Therefore we should not be like them. God  knows what we are in need of before we even ask Him.  Jesus left instructions as to how we ought to pray.  (Read Matthew 6: 5-8) KJV Holy Bible

”After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done
in earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not   into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The   power, and the glory,
for ever. Amen.”

Matthew 6: 9-13  (KJV)
